It’s our favorite podcast episode of the year!
In college, I had a notebook with the lyrics to the Lee Ann Womack song, “ I Hope You Dance.” It wasn’t cute, but I liked the words, and I wanted to use it for something good. I decided to begin collecting lessons learned.
#1 I was getting ready this morning and blow-drying my hair while listening to the radio. The blow dryer was so loud that I couldn’t hear the music anymore. Don’t let the noise of the world drown out your ability to hear me.
I know.
Kind of weird.
I still have that notebook.
I’ll never forget how it started.
These days, I collect what I learn on the notes app in my phone. I jot them down in my planner. I write about them here, and I talk about them on Gentle Words.
The end of the year has a rhythm to it, and I’ve made it a habit to name what I’ve learned. In November, I make the gratitude list. In December, I’m reflecting on the year. January brings the New Year and my birthday, so naturally, I find myself praying over what God might have for me next.
Over the past few years, I've noticed I'm better at analyzing or connecting the dots on what I’ve learned mid-year.
Out of everything I’ve learned, I chose 5 to share with you. They’re the ones that when I wrote them, I thought of you. And for me, that’s my cue to share them with you.
Last year, I shared the books and Bible studies that impacted me. This year turned out differently than I expected. Even so, I’m so grateful the Lord cares to teach me! Who am I that you are mindful of me?
