Behind The Mic
What I’m Reading, What’s Making Me Laugh, and Other Random Thoughts This Week
Hello!
Since we’ve been on spring break, there’s no podcast episode this week. I’m sorry. I keep thinking about you though, so I thought it might be fun to check in, keep things light-hearted, and share some of the random thoughts that have been on my mind lately. Consider this a collection of notes, if you will.

+ Part of me feels like I let us down by not releasing a podcast episode this week. The other part of me is whispering, “Brooke, why are you worried?" You’re the only one thinking about this. It’s because I care. I know you understand. We’re human. If you feel like you’ve disappointed or let someone down recently, here’s our kind reminder that disappointments happen to all of us. We have the sweetest community here, and I know this doesn’t define our relationship. Meet you in your earbuds next week!
+ This quote came across my feed this week and I saved it for us.
+ I keep finding myself caught between opposites. Example #1. I’m focused on my work. On what I’m doing and where I’m headed next. But in those moments, God calls me back to His work and what He’s accomplished. Example #2. I want to step into the life God has for me. I want to know Him more. I’ve got dreams and plans and goals. I know you do too. But while I’m eager to keep moving forward, He invites me to pause and notice where I’m standing right now. There’s purpose in this place, too. We’re not in a rush.
+ I’ll be finishing up this study on Joshua soon and I’ve enjoyed it so much! From getting an entirely new perspective on the story of Rahab, to learning the Jordan River was actually a jungle, a fresh take on the conquest of Jericho, and the faithfulness of God. It’s all so good! I’d love to know! What are you reading or learning about these days?
+ While reading about the instructions the Lord gave Joshua to capture Jericho, I noticed part of the plan involved blowing seven rams’ horns. What does a rams’ horn sound like? I googled it, and y’all, listen to this. I couldn’t help but think of the trumpets that will sound at the return of Christ.
+ While on our trip last week, Levi and I found the tree where we had carved our initials inside a heart. Nearly 20 years ago! This time, we added two hearts.

+ I unexpectedly started another study. It wasn’t on my list this year, but I’m curious, so I grabbed my book and signed up for the course. The topic? Angels. In short, I’ll be learning about God through the context of angels from Genesis to Revelation. Y’all, if I could get paid to participate in completing these Bible studies… Sometimes I wonder if I should go to seminary. I will say, it makes me smile to think of all the books and notes my girls will have access to. Welcome to my storehouse. ;)
+ I recently stumbled upon a reel of two gentlemen earnestly attempting this tongue twister. Fred fed Ted bread and Ted fed Fred bread. I have laughed and laughed again. Sometimes it’s the simplest things. Who knew a playful sentence passed back and forth would brighten my week?
+ This song has been on repeat. Mostly because it’s what I long for. Mostly because it’s helped me set my heart and mind on Easter.
+ Literally just finished this book by Bobby Jamieson called Everything Is Never Enough. It’s on Ecclesiastes and I have four words for you. This. book. is. fantastic.

+ Could I ask a small favor? If anything I’ve written or shared on the podcast has impacted you, would you consider passing it along to a friend or leaving a review? When you follow, subscribe, or leave a review, it helps others discover that this little corner of the internet actually exists. I think you’d agree with me that word of mouth is still the most genuine way to grow. Let’s be women who tell others God has more for them, too.

I’m off to fluff my couch pillows and get ready to host Bible study tonight. Have the best week! I’ll be back in your inbox on Thursday to finish up our stewardship series! Yay! Good is ahead.
Happy Tuesday, friend!
Brooke
